The Situation

Having nearly outgrown its’ production facilities, Revant sought a partner to assist with moving to a larger production space. Along with the relocation, Revant wished to improve throughput, reduce maintenance-related downtime, and improve their training processes to accommodate their need for additional employees.

The Solution

OMEP completed a Value Stream Map of Revant’s current manufacturing state. The results of this value stream were utilized to develop a new facility layout that optimized lean practices and provided for growth planning over the next five years. A future state Value Stream map was also created, incorporating best practices for lean, efficient manufacturing  and distribution. OMEP partnered with Revant to build a project plan for these best practices at various stages of company growth, including improvement recommendations to achieve the optimal future state. Systems information and process flow that could impact ERP considerations were also included in the evaluation.

The Results

Revant Optics put their project plan into practice, establishing Quality Controls and processes.  The company is now selling hundreds of unique frame styles on its website and Amazon channels, with a 1-2 day turnaround time.

Production downtime has been reduced by 18%, resulting in $360,000 cost savings. Over the next five years, the company is poised to greatly expand its sales revenues through increased market penetration. They now have the capacity to meet that new demand, experiencing over $2 million in new sales. 6 jobs were created to meet the increased demand.
